A good squishy toy can last a long time if it is treated well, but a few common habits can wear one out faster than expected. Here is how to keep your collection looking and feeling great.
Start with gentle cleaning. Most squishies can be cleaned with a soft, slightly damp cloth and a small amount of mild soap. Wipe gently in circular motions, then let the toy air dry completely before squeezing it again. Avoid soaking squishy toys in water, since trapped moisture inside the foam can lead to a musty smell or mildew over time.
Keep them out of direct sunlight and away from heat. Sitting on a sunny windowsill or inside a hot car can cause the material to discolor, harden, or lose its slow rise bounce back. A drawer, shelf, or display case out of direct light is a much safer home.
Watch out for sharp edges and pets. Keys, zippers, pet claws, and teeth are some of the most common causes of small tears. If a tiny tear does happen, a dab of fabric glue on the inside of the split can often stop it from spreading.
Rotate your collection instead of squeezing the same one constantly. Giving toys a break between uses helps the foam keep its shape and bounce back speed for longer.
With a little care, your squishy toys can stay soft, colorful, and satisfying to squeeze for a long time. Explore our collection to find your next favorite.
